Five Mile Lake Lodge Black Bear Hunting Tips
Five Mile Lake Lodge is located 25 miles south of the Chapleau Crown Game preserve and our area is known as the Black Bear Capital of the World. We hunt the area (95 square kilometers) surrounding our lake and other nearby lakes, streams and marshes both from tree stands as well as ground blinds. We ask that you provide your own tree stand.
We run a quality bear hunt with 2-3 active baits per hunter. Our hunt is kept on the small side, bringing in only between 4 and 6 bear hunters per year, which is why our success rates are very high. All baiting begins at least one month prior to the start of our hunt, which begins the last week of August and continues until mid September. Most baits can be reached with a short walk from your vehicle off logging roads and trails, with others accessible by boat or ATV's. We will provide any help needed with retrieval of the downed animal and full use of freezers are provided with your hunt.
